Based in Rochester NY, Psysop is a product of his family’s rich artistic inspirations, natural musical dispositions, diverse life and cultural experiences, and an extensive background in the application of technology.
Psysop in the Studio
Psysop has no formal music training. He feels, creates and plays music completely by ear, generating and often fusing genres and styles that are not preconceived, but rather evolve organically as part of his music-making process. The sounds spaces blend a modern electronic vibe with catchy melodic and rhythmic colors of rock, fund/soul, hip hop and/or other worldly styles and in varying moods. Each songs name is a single word that captures the expression. The song arrangements range from traditional to minimal in structure and flow. The song lyrics span rich to minimal in expression, with messaging that often centers on the thought-provoking aspects of living in the modern world. Influenced heavily by British and American psychedelic rock pioneers of 1960s and 1970s, Psysop songs feature live performances and solos with pure improvisation, creating instrumental conversations. The result is music that is more expressive, playful and highly listenable.
Psysop Vision :
Psysop believes that the true measurement of a song is whether it moves you. The musical genre or style is more a form of expression that can influence movement, but it is not the movement itself. This is why great songs continue to sound great no matter the genre, style or musical era. A great song stimulates a psychological response that can influence physical reactions, summon memories, and even change our mood and behavior. Music is one of the most powerful forms of human expression and for it to truly resonate with humans, Psysop believes it needs to be uniquely human in its making, or “Human by Design”.

A design pattern that integrates pre-recorded parts with live parts and solos to capture pure instrumental improvisation, generating unique song variations per performance, and creating moments of spontaneous expression and inspiration that only the human mind can imagine [Human Expression].

A design process of first discovering a sound space that stimulates a unique psychological feeling, and within that feeling, iteratively develop the audio, visual and textual expressions of the song from the inside out, where the genre or style is not preconceived, but evolves organically [Human Intuition].

Design
A collaboration model where music consumers, collaborators, and/or creators can interact directly with the music-maker in the development of a new music experiences, collaborating on the audio, visual and textual assets generated throughout the development lifecycle of the song [Human Collaboration].
In a musical era, where over 100K new songs are released on streaming platforms every day, Psysop believes that it is the songs that are uniquely human in their making that will ultimately move us more broadly and deeply. This is the music experience that Psysop aspires to create, develop, and evolve over time.
